The Affordable Care Act Celebrates One Year Anniversary
One year after being signed into law, the Affordable Care Act has expanded affordable health coverage to Americans of all ages and backgrounds. Many benefits of the law have already taken effect, including 50% discounts on brand-name drugs for seniors in the Medicare donut hole, tax credits for small businesses, and more rights and protections for Americans. The new health care law keeps insurance companies honest by setting rules that rein in the worst industry abuses. Since its enactment one year ago, the law has benefited millions of Americans by helping more children get health coverage, ending lifetime and most annual limits on care, allowing young adults under 26 to stay on their parent’s health insurance, and giving patients access to recommended preventive services without cost.
