Waxman Statement on FCC’s Proposal to Reform the Universal Service Fund
Feb 8, 2011
Rep. Henry A. Waxman released the following statement today in response to proposed rules announced by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to modernize and streamline the Universal Service Fund (USF):
“I commend the FCC for tackling comprehensive Universal Service Fund reform. The USF program cannot carry out its critical mission because it is outdated and broken. The Fund must be modernized to support broadband networks, reformed to use public dollars wisely, and strengthened to ensure full transparency and accountability. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the FCC to ensure that this effort is successful.”
