New Reports Show the Benefits of Health Care Reform in Every Congressional District

Jul 15, 2013

Today Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman released new reports and an interactive map on the benefits of the Affordable Care Act in every congressional district in the country.  These reports provide the first picture of the impacts of the law in districts redrawn or newly created following the 2010 Census.   They show that millions of Americans are already benefitting from the law’s reforms of Medicare and the private insurance market.

Information on data sources used to compile the reports is available online here

Dear Colleague,

This week the House is voting for the 38th time to repeal or undermine key provisions of the Affordable Care Act. These votes are a distraction and waste of resources.

The law is already yielding important new benefits for our constituents, including expanding health insurance coverage to 3.1 million young adults, savings seniors an average of over $600 per year on their prescription drugs, and making free preventive services available to more than 100 million Americans. When the new health insurance marketplaces open in October and new coverage becomes available on January 1, 2014, millions of Americans will finally have access to the security and peace of mind that come with quality, affordable health insurance.

In order to demonstrate the specific benefits of the law for our constituents, our staffs have put together fact sheets on the benefits of the Affordable Care Act in every congressional district. These fact sheets provide the first picture of the impacts of the law in districts redrawn or newly created following the 2010 Census.
