For 45 years, the Medicaid program has worked as a lifeline to millions of people, providing health care to the lowest income and medically needy Americans, including families, children and the elderly. If the bill that was approved by the Republican Majority in this markup were to become law, it would slash the number of people that could look to Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program for their safety net.
